Repairing The Boy's Bathroom and Adding Small Clinic/Isolation Room
September 17, 2008 a tree fell through the boys bathroom and connected storage room. The roof was completely destroyed. In August of 2009 a group from Denmark blessed Didasko with a portion of the needed funds to make the repairs to that part of the building. Of the complete $20,000 project the team from Denmark sent $8,000. With those funds we were able to do a large part of the necessary repairs including reconstruction of the walls, and replaicing the roof. The bathroom will be left functional, but lacking necesary items such as stalls around the toilets, tile on the floor, a door, a window, and paint. Part of this project is to change the previously mentioned storage room into a small room to serve as a clinic/nurses area as well as a small isolation room. The purpose of this room would be to have a place for the kids to stay when they are really sick so that the sickness doesn't spread to the other children. Because we did not have something to serve this purpose, last month almost ALL of the children suffered from a virus very similar to the swine flu, because we had no way to contain it. In order to make the necessary changes to the storage room and to finish the boys bathroom we will need aproximately $10,000-$12,000.
The Children's Home was built in 1980 (29 years ago) the asbestos roof that was put on in 1980 is the same roof the kids sleep under every night. There are many leaks and roof damage. The roof severly needs to be replaced. We would like to replace the roof with a roof similar to the roof that was just put on the bathroom. The current roof is one angel (mono-pitched roof?), and when the roof is replaced we would like to build up the shorter wall and create two angels (double-pitched roof?). I'm not an architect or a builder, but I think that's what it's called. We have not been able to make a solid budget for this project, but an edjucated estimate would probably be around $30,000-$35,000. We currently have an architect puting together a drawing of the building to help with this project.

Welcome to Our Blog!
We are Jorge, Rosa, Michelle, and Cristian Castillo. As the christian family that we are, we have made a comittment to serve the Lord. In our 30 years of fulfilling this comittment, the last 16 years our emphasis has been to serve the children in Didasko Children's Home. It is our desire to be obedient to the Word of God, and in James 1:27 it says "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress...".
